“Scouting’s Journey to Excellence” is the BSA’s new council performance recognition program designed to encourage and reward success and measure the performance of our units, districts, and councils. It is replacing the Centennial Quality Awards Program as a means of encouraging excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA.
As of October 1, 2011 Pack 241 has reached the Silver level for this award. With our continued work for the remainder of the year I am sure we will be able to achieve the Gold level.
This system tracks things like how many outdoor activities we do as a pack, how many leaders are fully trained in their position, how many service projects we do, how many boys attend summer camp, scout retention, scout advancements, how many boys cross over into Boy Scouts, etc.
This is not about getting a patch or bragging rights. Reaching Gold status means that we are providing the best possible program for our boys. That’s what this is all about and I am proud of the fact that we will reach Gold status this year.
